I am a MAC girl.
When it comes to the fundamentals (foundation and powder) that’s what it is. I have tried Make Up For Ever and although I loved some of their products (like the Mat Velvet + foundation) I never seem to be able to find a good enough fit for my skin tone. But I’ve not given up on MUFE yet, I really liked the way Mat Velvet felt on my skin so I might try it again in the future…[box type=”shadow”]For now though, here’s my daily make up routine
- MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation: NW47
- MAC Studio Fix Pressed Powder: NW45
- MAC Blot Powder: Deep Dark
- Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder: 08 Ebony
- Nacara Blush: Anapurna (a coral blush)
- Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner
- Annabelle Lipliner: 330 Espresso
- Mascara: Any brand I get…no real preference.
This is what I use every. single. day.[/box]
Now, you might think that’s a lot of stuff…and maybe it is. But at the end of the process (10 minutes, every morning) what I want is for my skin to look good. So it’s about hiding the blemishes and dark spots (1), making the coverage last (2), mattifying the skin (3) and adding a healthy glow (4 and 5).
Then I only put some black eyeliner, brown lipliner, and some mascara.
MAC foundation and blot powder
I love MAC products. I found the perfect color combination for my skin and I do not need to reapply any make up (except for the Blot Powder when my skin gets shiny) during the day, which is absolutely perfect for me.
I have to say that I also love the MAC buying experience. I love the MAC customer service. I love the Back 2 Mac program (I have not bought a eye shadow in a long time…I always manage to get them free). So for now I do not foresee any changes unless it is to have fun with something new every once in a while (like that time when I bought a Bare Minerals Foundation – more on that in another post – or when I got the MUFE Mat Velvet.) I try new stuff but always go back to MAC… So I guess MAC wins with me.
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder
Now for the Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder: it just revives my complexion and gives me a nice glow. It is worth the 50$ it costs because you just need a touch of it and I have had mine for close to 4 months now and I’m pretty sure I won’t have to purchase it again before next summer.
Nacara Annapurna Blush
I had been looking for a coral/peach blush for a while. MUFE, MAC and Fashion Fair all had nice colors but Nacara ended up having the perfect fit for me.
In case you are not familiar with Nacara, it is a Canadian brand that is designed for dark skinned women. In Canada you can find it at Pharmaprix/Shoppers Drugmart and, from what I have heard, it has great success in France as well.
The Annapurna Blush is simply gorgeous. It stays put all day long and has a matte finish.
It retails for 16 $ CAD.
These are two very simple and inexpensive liners. The L’Oreal line is very black, doesn’t smear, it stays on all day and is quite inexpensive (around 7 $). It honestly does not move all day.
As for the Annabelle Lipliner, it costs under 5$ and it is exactly the color I needed. Longlasting, inexpensive…what else can I say? I love it. Annabelle is, also, a Canadian Brand, owned by the Groupe Marcelle, another canadian brand you might know about.
So this is what’s in my makeup bag. What’s in yours? Share and let me know what you think about my routine.
