I decided to try this cleanser from Neutrogena because, as I have said in a few posts already, I am trying to use more products geared towards sensitive skin in an effort to help reduce my acne breakouts. I have noticed that my skin tends to get a little mad at me when I am not gentle enough with it. Since I have been using gentler products with more natural components my skin has been mostly blemish-free. And I want to keep it that way.
While I already use a very good makeup remover (read the review here) I still feel the need to wash my face and neck thoroughly in the morning and evening. I had already used a Neutrogena cleanser that I loved and would have gladly used it again, but since I love trying new products, I decided to pick up the Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser instead.
All of this is true. As you know, I wear a full face of makeup daily and the Ultra Gentle Cleanser can remove it all on its own, although I do feel the need to wash my face twice to make sure I am 100% makeup free in case I don’t remove my makeup with the Bioderma cleanser first. My skin never feels tight or dry after using this cleanser and since using it I have had no breakouts that I can attribute to it.
I love that it contains no paraben, soap or dye and I honestly have nothing bad to say about this product.
My only concern is the fact that it is a pretty fragrant cleanser. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like its fragrance. But I do question the need to add a fragrance (knowing how potentially irritating fragrances can be) to a product meant for sensitive skin. While it does not have a negative effect on my resilient skin, I am not so sure about people who have really sensitive skin. So you might wanna be careful with this product if you have very sensitive skin.
There is a fragrance-free version of this cleanser, but it is a cream cleanser, not a foaming formula. If you have very sensitive skin, you should try that one. As for me, I need my cleanser to lather. It’s psychological. In my mind, if there is no foam then it’s not really cleansing my skin. Even though I know better than that.
Another great benefit: the 354 ml pump bottle lasts for a loooong time. I honestly have been using the same bottle for over 3 months. At 11.99$ it is a great purchase.
I definitely recommend this but with a word of caution for very sensitive skin types because of the fragrance.
