You guys know La La Vasquez right? She’s an actress (she had a small role in Think Like A Man), wife to NBA star Carmelo Anthony and BFF to the likes of Kim Kardashian and Kelly Rowland. She partnered with Motives Cosmetics to come up with a make up line that was launched last fall. I received one of the Fall/Winter Runway Collection eyeshadow quad to try. The particular quad I received doesn’t have a name so here’s a picture. This palette has 4 quite usable shades: blue, green, red and beige. All four shades have glitter and the formula is quite good. The pigmentation is satisfying but mostly the formula is quite smooth and easy to blend. The main issue I had with it? Staying power. It started creasing really quickly. Now I admittedly have very oily lids but other eyeshadows have fared better on me without bases or primers. Also I do not know how much these four shades work well together as I cannot imagine sporting a red, blue and green look; but then again, the work greatly individually with the glittery beige as an accent on the brow bone and/or inner corners. So, while I was surprised at the combination, this quad has ended up staying on my makeup station and being quite useful in the past few days. Also, seeing that the staying power issue can be easily fixed with a good base or primer, I feel that it is a decent quad.
Now, it costs 29.95$ and I think it’s a bit pricey. I don’t think I would spend 29.95$ on a quad with colors that seem so easily “dupable” (meaning you could easily find a similar shade in a drugstore brand) and with less than average staying power. So would I recommend it? If you like La La and need these four shades in your life then why not? Will I keep using it. Sure, the colors work well individually. But would I repurchase it? Alas, the answer is no. If the price was, say 15.00$ then it would seem like a much more reasonable purchase indeed.
