Milani products are not easy to find in Montreal. A Jean-Coutu drugstore in my neighborhood used to carry some products of the brands a while back but it’s no longer the case now. Well.ca also carries a few products but they don’t carry the foundations. So when I hear two of my favorite Youtubers mention how much they liked it I had to go on the hunt for it. So, naturally I went on milanicosmetics.com but to my dismay, I realized flat-rate shipping was 16.95 USD…for a 9.99 USD foundation…which equals around 35 CAD. But luckily I was able to find it on Amazon.com for 20 CAD including shipping. And that seemed a little more reasonable for a drugstore foundation…so I went for it. I ordered the shade 14 Golden Toffee (I am a MAC NW45)
Here’s how Milani markets this foundation:
Well, I see no lie in this description. This foundation offers a full coverage with 2 pumps to cover the entire face and neck. The application is easy (I use my Make Up For Ever #106 Medium Foundation Brush) and the coverage is fan-ta-stic. I cannot stress this enough. It covers every blemish and dark spot.
The formula is very thick, which obviously contributes to the good coverage and the foundation finish is dewy. I like a matte finish so I add a setting powder and a blotting powder (either by Cover FX or MAC) on top.
My favorite thing about this foundation, apart from the fantastic coverage and ease of application, is the staying power. Although (and this is a con) my face definitely gets shiny during the day, this foundation does not slide around and become patchy. It stays in place and the coverage stays great. You can then blot with a blotting powder or just with a piece of paper and keep looking fabulous.
This foundation is very good. I wish it kept my face matte, but it’s a small price to pay for such great coverage and longevity. Now, it is still cold in Montreal right now, but as I said, as long as it stays in place and does not slide around, I believe this is a foundation I could still wear during the summer.
It also is fairly inexpensive at 9.99 USD if you can get it in the United States. Hopefully Milani will get in our Canadian drugstores soon enough.
