Maybelline recently released a brand new pretty exciting product for the ladies who, like me, love lip products. More about the product from Maybelline:
Why You’ll Love It
- A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss
- Our exclusive smoothing angora brush delivers a polished , even application and smoothing sensation to lips
I received 8 out of the 20 shades available and I swatched them to the best of my ability below.
The shades below are:
- #060 Nude Illusion
- #065 Caramel Infused
- #005 Breathtaking Apricot
- #075 Fuchsia Flourish
- #020 Signature Scarlet
- #095 Blush Essence
- #030 Raspberry Rhapsody
- #050 Caviar Couture
As you can see Color Elixir does deliver a punch of color, shine with a balmy texture. The nude shades (060-065-005-095) come off a little more sheer and not as pigmented as the darker colors (075-020-050-030) but in all cases you can build up the color by applying more layers.
The fact that the nude colors come off a little more sheer is a plus for me because it makes them more wearable for my dark lips and dark complexion.
This is indeed an interesting product to try as it does kinda give you a 3 in 1:
- the pigmentation of a lipstick
- the shine of a lipgloss
- the hydration and comfort of a lipbalm
As far as the wear of the product is concerned I would say that it has a little more wear than the usual lipgloss with around 3 hours for the darker shades and a little less – around 2 hours – for the nude shades. The darker shades leave your lips with a little tint of color when the shine wears off whereas the nude shades almost completely disappeared from my lips after eating or after 2 hours; whichever came first, but always leaving my lips feeling moisturized.
I also really like the the fuzzy, tear-shaped applicator which allowed for a quick application as it really comes out saturated with product.
The application is even and easy.
I really liked this product and although I was lucky enough to receive 8 out of the 20 shades I am looking forward to seeing them in stores and trying new shades soon.
They retail for 10.99$
