Maybelline’s Baby Lips lip balms came out a few months ago (around the same time the Color Tattoo Eyeshadows came out) and when I saw them at Shopper’s Drugmart I immediately picked one up. I recently bought a second shade and thought I’d give you my opinion on this product.
What’s so special about these lip balms?
Here’s what Maybelline says about it
LIP RENEW FORMULA and 8-hr hydration for visibly renewed lips in 4 weeks.
Clinical care for baby-soft lips.
I love lip balms. It’s the one thing I truly cannot live without. I told you that I have a hard time leaving my lips in peace and I already know what the best lip balm is in my opinion. (Click here to read other tinted lip balms reviews) But I love changing and switching and try new stuff so that’s the reason why I first picked up Baby Lips in Peach Kiss. I love the smell, I like that it is moisturizing. And while it definitely did not stay on 8 hours on my lips (I could not stay 8 hours without touching or licking my lips if my life depended on it anyway…) I know I got a full 4 hours wear: morning to noon for sure.
Now are these lipbalms revolutionary? I wouldn’t say so, but here’s why I definitely will repurchase it: the pigmentation. Check it out below.
These lip balms come in 6 flavors. Two are clear (Quenched and Peppermint) the other four are pigmented. Out of the 4 pigmented ones I tried Peach Kiss (a nude peach) and Pink Punch (a cool pink) and I love how they color my lips without being too opaque or too shiny. As you know, I’m not big on lipsticks but I do like some color on my lips and this gives me exactly that.
So I recommend it more for the color and very respectable pigmentation and moisturizing properties than for the “lip renewal” or for the 8 hour hydration which is a somewhat exaggerated claim in my opinion. For that, I’d suggest you try this (and even that won’t give you 8 hours, but it’ll help, a lot.)
I also like the packaging, it’s young and fun and goes well with the “Baby Lips” name.
Maybelline Baby Lips retail for around 4.99$ on Well.ca – It is often more expensive at Shopper’s Drugmart and retails, I believe, around 6.00. It’s not expensive and definitely worth a try.
