Hypnotic Skinssentials is based in Vancouver and offers hand made cosmetics. They are a member of the Canadian Health Food Association and all of the ingredients in their products are natural and plant based.
I was sent a few of their products for a review and…I am in love. As I have told you before, I try to incorporate as many natural products as possible but I still expect natural products to perform well and be effective.
The Evanish Serum
See the ingredients list: prunus amygdelus duicis (sweet almond), hellenthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, rosa canina (rosehip) seed oil, deucus carota sativa (carrot) root extract, oenothera blennis (evening primrose) oil and/et tocopherol (vitamin e). essential oils/heulles essentielles: evanish blend.
Many of these ingredients have known benefits:
- Eucalyptus oil cleans and heals inflammation due to its superior antibacterial and healing properties.
- Evening primrose oil has anti-inflammatory and healing properties, it also some believe it can treat hormonal imbalance if you suffer from hormonal acne.
- Sweet almond oil has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and emollient properties
- Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that are essential for skin health.
- Carrot seed oil has antiseptic, antioxidant (thanks to the vitamin A and beta-carotene in it) and tonic properties
All in all, it is a blend of great oils that have many known benefits for skin. According to Hypnotic Skinssentials continuous application of this serum will make skin visibly smoother, clearer, and balanced. But does it work?
The serum has a minty smell and is a light oil that penetrates skin easily. I put 5 drops in my hand, warm them up by rubbing my hands together then I apply it on my face and neck my pressing my palms on my skin then by massaging it in. The smell of eucalyptus mixed with their “evanish blend” of essential oils is very soothing to me (although my husband is not a fan, I’ll admit it) and my skin immediately feels soft and moisturized. I have been using it twice daily for a little under a month and my skin is smoother, I notice less black heads, a little less sebum production. I have been using it after my DIY witch hazel and ACV toner and my skin has been reacting marvelously to it. It is honestly a great serum and I plan on purchasing it after I run out.
As you can see in the picture it comes in a dark glass bottle with a dropper. It is the standard packaging for serums as the dark glass makes sure the oil is protected from the potentially deteriorating effect of sunlight.
At 25$ for a 10 oz bottle that will probably last around 2.5 to 3 months (at 5 to 10 drops a day for my personal use) I believe it is a good value. You can also get 20%OFF your first online order with their promo code SpecialGift20. Shipping is around 12$ for Quebec…it’s not cheap but it is standard if you are used to shopping online.
I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a great serum to add to your skin care routine. I have acne prone skin and it has really worked well for me. I believe sensitive skins as well could benefit from it.
