I love this time of the year. When you know that spring is around the corner and that the new collections start bringing bright colors to the stores that start finally getting rid of the winter collections. I personally consider this to be the most expense-inducing period of the year. I practically want to buy everything I see, whether it’s the new fashion or the new makeup collections.
Avon helps us get ready for summer with a new collections of bronzers and lipglosses to die for. The Glow LipGlosses, Bronzing Pearls, Bronzing Powder, and Bronzing Brush will be available as of May 2012 and are all worth giving a look.
They are all designed to give a subtle glow and, “enhance a tan and show your glow year round”
Glow Bronzing Powder, Pearls
The Glow Bronzing Powder comes in 5 shades: Sunkissed Glow, Warm Glow, Light Bronze, Light Sands and Deep Tan. Unfortunately I did not get Deep Tan, the shade I received as a sample for consideration was Sunkissed Glow. It has a matte finish, is not too shimmery and actually (even in the wrong color for me) does give a subtle glow. Now, it’s difficult to do better than Guerlain’s Terracotta in my eyes, but this bronzer is an acceptable alternative if you’re not ready to spend 50$ on Guerlain’s star product (even though I believe it’s definitely worth it). Dust it on your cheekbones, chest, neck for a healthy not too shimmery glow.
Same goes for the Bronzing Pearls. They come in two shades, Bronzed and Sun-kissed. I tried them both and they give a light and subtle shimmer with little to no color (at least none that shows up on my NW46 chocolate complexion). If you’ve had any issues with looking orange or red with any bronzer, it will not be the case with these two. It use these with a kabuki blush and application is quite easy. You can also use Avon’s bronzer blush (nylon bristles -5.99$). For 12.00$, the bronzers are definitely worth a try.
Last but not least, the Glow Collection also has 4 gorgeous lipglosses. Two of which I tried and fell in love with: Coral Oasis – a peachy coral with golden shimmer – and Sunkissed Nude – a light brown also with a golden shimmer. Love them both. I think it’s all in the golden shimmer… Their texture is creamy and they leave your lips feeling moisturized and soft.
Again, for the cost, these are worth a try. They’re extremely affordable. I receive quite a few Avon products to review and I am very glad I discovered this brand. Affordable products and good quality. It’s worth trying and this is my honest opinion.
The only thing I find difficult is finding the right shade for you when it comes to foundations and powders (or even the bronzers for that matter). How to do that when buying online? I think Avon should consider creating “shade charts” where it would compare its own shades to the ones available in the market (MAC, MUFE, Revlon etc) I’m sure it would help many buyers. Of course, I know Avon reps would tell me that, when buying with a representative you get samples and you can test products but, as many customers, I really don’t feel like buying through a rep…it’s just not a way of buying I’m used to.
But apart from this…I love Avon ;-)
