I have been thinking about starting to use an anti-aging cream for a while now. After all I am 30, and even though I have been able to verify on women (and men) of my family and entourage that, as the saying goes, “black don’t crack” (meaning that black people have a tendency to age well) I still think that it is a good idea to prevent the apparition of wrinkles and other signs of aging. I also have not been too keen on using anti-aging products because I am still dealing with the consequences of teenage and adult acne and I still feel like I don’t have my “adult skin” yet. I always thought that, one day, my skin would finally rid itself of all the issues related to acne (dark spots, large pores etc.) and that it would reach the peak of its beauty before I would have to start worrying about the signs of aging.
But now that I am 30, I do have to accept the fact that this is as good as it gets for me and that if I want to have good skin moving forward, I’d better start thinking about anti-aging now.
Before I could start researching anti-aging creams I was sent Frequence, a 100% natural anti-aging cream for the face, eye and neck created by a fellow Montrealer, Gigi Amar. As most inventions, it was created out of necessity for Gigi Amar herself. Afflicted by a rash she couldn’t seem to heal with cosmetics and pharmaceuticals available on the market, she decided to go back to the natural remedies her moroccan grandmother taught her. When she was able to heal her skin with her own concoction, she kept researching and testing products and eventually created Frequence.
Why “Frequence”? According to the company: Clinical research shows that essential oils have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man. Daily use raises our bodies’ frequency resulting in optimum health, which occurs at 68 MHz. Frequence by Gigi has captured the infinite power of 24 of the most precious high frequency, therapeutic grade essential oils from 105 to 320 Mega Hertz (MHz). Filled with naturally powerful antioxidants that delay the aging process and decrease the appearance of fine lines, redness and acne, Frequence by Gigi is both restorative and regenerative. The essential oils used in Frequence by Gigi, when combined with powerful antioxidant carrier oils, have a tremendous synergistic effect on the body and lock-in moisture at the cellular level, reinforcing the skin’s defenses against DNA damage and aging.
There are many things to like about this cream. First of all, it’s an “all in one”. It is a day and night cream, it’s meant for use on the face, neck and under-eye area. Secondly, it is 100% natural and, as a new mom, I am being more and more careful about the chemicals that I come in contact with. Thirdly it smells absolutely amazing. It smells almost exactly like the Yonka scrub that my beautician used to apply on my face during my facials at Profil Beauté (if you go there ask for Cyncia, she’s fantastic). Every morning when I apply it it brings me right back to that spa experience. It smells better than any other cosmetic I have ever used and the fact that it is only due to natural ingredients is amazing. And finally, the list of ingredients is pretty amazing.

I have been using this cream for a couple of weeks and the fact that it is an all in one has been perfect for me because I have had very little time to care for my skin since my baby has been born. The cream as a nice consistency, not too thick, not too thin and it absorbs really easily leaving no greasy residue. Your skin will feel hydrated, supple and will smell fantastic. I have had no breakouts since I have started using it and honestly my skin simply feels great.
Frequence by Gigi comes in a beautiful 50 ml / 1.69 fluid ounces jar that retails for 194.95$ plus tax (224.15$ including taxes). It is a higher end cosmetic and it does feel luxurious. It does feel like a spa treatment in a jar.
I cannot attest to the long term benefits yet but after using it for 2 weeks I know that it is one of the most pleasant day/night creams I have ever used and that, even though I am a sleep-deprived new mom, my skin is feeling hydrated, supple and soft. But for such a price tag I would want to make sure that it delivers on the anti-aging front and unfortunately I cannot say that for sure yet.
If you are looking for a 100% natural all-in-one anti-aging cream with restorative and regenerative properties then it is definitely worth looking into and investing in. After all, how much does a woman spend cumulatively on a day cream, a night cream, a serum and an under-eye cream? If only for its conveniency it might be worth investing, but it’s all a matter of budget and preference.
