I have never associated Estée Lauder with ethnic markets. I would never had thought that Estée Lauder would have a foundation for a black girl as dark and lovely as myself. (Because, yeah, as you can see in this picture they have included some black women in their ads, but they’re always more Tyra than Alek Wek)
This is one of the interesting things I learned at the presentation of the 2012 new Estée Lauder products that I attended earlier this week. Not only did I find out that Estée Lauder had liquid foundations for my complexion (I still have to go and try them out though…) but I also got to know some of their classic products and latest innovations.
Here is a quick roundup of my favorites
The emblematic Estée Lauder night treatment is turning 30 in 2012. To celebrate the birthday of the ever successful brown bottle (7 sold every minute around the world) Estée Lauder will issue a limited edition anniversary bottle and I was lucky enough to get one. If you’re like me, you might only have heard of ANR through your mom or aunt and, I have to admit, I thought it was an anti-aging product. From what Estée Lauder’s national makeup artists Geneviève Meneyan as well as many reviews online state, this can be considered as the ultimate aging prevention regimen. Most women notice glowing, supple, regenerated skin and, after only a few days using it, I have to agree. But hang on a little bit, I’ll use it for a few more weeks then will come at you with a full review!
Multi-perfecting Beauty Benefit Cream d’Estée Lauder
This new product by Estée Lauder is a BB Cream. You might have heard of this new product everybody loves (every brand has a BB cream now) and that some refer to as a Blemish-Balm or a Blemish Base cream. According to wikipedia “BB creams come in a variety of different formulations and qualities. Some are said to have skin whitening or brightening properties. Others are anti-acne, some are anti-wrinkle, some are intended to even out skin tone, and yet others to lighten blemish scars. BB creams are sometimes used like a primer under foundation, and if tinted may even replace foundation and some newer ones will have functions of primer, foundation, moisturizer, sun block, pore minimization and skin refining together which can save time and money in make-up. “
Estée Lauder’s BB cream combines primer, sun block, foundation, as well as moisturizer. Although I did not find it particularly moisturizing and the tint is obviously too light for me I still love it. It acts as a perfect base for my make up and my skin stays mat all day long which I love. It also does make my pores look smaller. It retails for 45$ and, although it is not cheap, you can replace at least your sun block and primer with this one and save a few bucks. It’s worth trying.
A skincare range of four new products elaborated in Japan and principally aimed at Asian women. Now if you read UB you know how obsessed I am with skin whitening products due to the dark spots left on my face by acne. But according to what I have read on this product I fear that it might be more of a “brightening product” with a milder effect than what I might be looking for. I would love to know if anyone with black skin and dark spots has had some success with this range. I would need reassurance before trying this, mainly because of the price because this range doesn’t come cheap…
- CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening Cleanser, 45 $
- CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Lotion, 60 $
- CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening Essence, 110 $
- CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening Milky Lotion, 75 $
Let me know if you’ve tried it!
Limited edition makeup range Topaz
Inspired by a vacation that Estée Lauder’s Creative makeup Director, Tom Pecheux took in Arizona this makeup palette is all about gold, glitter, heat, oranges and yellow. There isn’t much to say about it except it’s gorgeous and I love it, especially the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Topaz Chameleon that looks so luxurious and beautiful against dark skin, can’t wait to try it. I’ll try more Estée Lauder in the future for sure, stay tuned UBeez! :)
