I admitted here that, although I really want beautiful skin, sometimes sleep has come before skincare. Meaning that in the past, I would always rather sleep a few minutes more than drag myself in the bathroom to remove my makeup.
I really wonder where this laziness comes from though, because my mother NEVER missed a chance to tell me how important washing my face before bed is…but somehow it never really got to my brain.
Anyway, in the first post related to cleansers I mentioned my favorite cleanser ever, the Avène Cleanance Soap-free Facial Gel Cleanser. I have been using it for years and love it. But I recently received the Bioderma Sebium H2O cleanser and it compelled me to make a clarification: Cleanance is my favorite cleanser to wash my face. Bioderma is now my favorite cleanser to remove makeup…without water.
Let me explain this. Many cosmetic companies understood that when it comes to removing makeup, many women see it as a chore. They therefore all proceeded to come up with wipes to make the process easier and quicker. I have tried a lot of wipes but never repurchased any of them either because the smell was too strong, they were too wet, not wet enough, too harsh or too expensive. None of the makeup remover wipes I have ever tried impressed me…so much so that I cannot even come up with the name of one of the brands I tried…I erased them from my memory when I decided not to use wipes ever again.
But then came Bioderma and their micellar solution. Now you’ll ask, what is a micellar solution? Here comes the explanation
Micelles – micro-encapsulate dirt on skin’s surface and lift it up without rubbing, thereby maintaining skin’s physiological balance
The micelles contained in its formula effectively micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance (soap-free, physiological pH).
Bioderma, the brand that (according to their website) pioneered micellar solutions (closely followed by La Roche Posay) has created a micellar solution for every skin type. There is Sensibio H2O for sensitive skin, Hydrabio for Sensitive Dehydrated Skin and Sebium H2O for Oily skin. They even have ABCDerm H2O for Babies.
Now what do I love about Sebium H2O? It cleans my face perfectly, it is fresh. It removes foundation and eye makeup. It is not oily like most eye makeup removers are. My skin feels fresh, even hydrated. I love the smell… I usually have to go through 3 cotton pads saturated with product for my face to be makeup free but the process is truly quick and easy. I now have no reason at all to not remove my make up. It is much easier and less expensive than buying wipes, I assure you. Moreover Sebium H2O contains zinc gluconate and copper sulphate which helps purify the skin so it works for your skin as well. I cannot testify that it makes my skin or acne better, but it cleans it beautifully and I am loving the process. So Bioderma, I’m giving you two thumbs up.
The 250 mL bottle goes for around 15$ I believe… get it!
