I received an interesting product in the March GlossyBox that’s worth reviewing: the Bailey Cosmetics Duo Foundation Powder.
Created by Brain Bailey – Tim Gunn’s (Make it work!) canadian alter-ego on Project Runway Canada – this foundation comes in six shades (Fair, Medium, Tan, Golden, Warmer and Deep). Each foundation comes with two shades (in my case deep and deeper) in the pot to allow you to custom match to your skin tone. I thought that was a great idea especially because it worked for me. I succeeded in creating a shade that works for my skin tone by mixing the two shades. It takes a bit of practice but it definitely works. This foundation offers FULL coverage without the need to apply layer over layer of product and the application is very smooth and soft. The coverage is so effective you can use it as a concealer. I really liked it. I even used it alone (without a liquid foundation under it) and then sprayed elf’s Makeup Mist & Set Spray and ended up with a very nice natural looking result.
Now, I think I got luck and the deep shades fit me, but it’s a bit of a gamble offering only 6 shades. Also, the application process is a bit tricky at first and requires quite a bit of blending.
But all in all, I really like this product. I even like the packaging which is quite original: an aluminum compact with a mirror inside the cover for touch-ups.
