I am not a fan of loose powder. I’m not gonna lie. I make a mess, I put it everywhere. It ends up on my top. I’m not really good at manipulating it. So I, of course, did not buy the Avon Ideal Shade Loose Powder; I received it as a sample to review and…lo and behold! I love it.
Who knew I would like a loose powder? With a little bit of practice (ie. trying not to spill half of the product) this could actually replace my MAC Studio Fix Pressed powder. Now Studio Fix is, of course, a foundation and has way more coverage than this loose powder. But, as I seem to have finally fixed some of the issues my skin had (namely the tiny bumps I had on my cheeks and the larger pores) I feel like I can get away with less layers of foundation and the Ideal Shade Loose Powder from Avon seems to be working fine for me.
Now, as you know, Avon products are, for the most, not sold in stores. You either buy it online, through the catalog or through a sales rep. It is very difficult to buy a powder or foundation without trying it on before and getting it right. I was lucky enough to get it right the first time with the Ideal Shade Loose Powder in the Ginger Shade. For this product, Avon actually has 4 Deep shade for us dark and lovely ladies: Ginger, Mocha, Toffee and Fawn. I love that Avon is broadening their color palette and this product if 100% worth a try. Now how do you figure out your shade? I’d say meeting a rep with samples would be the way to go.
The products is very reasonably priced at 15.00$ CAD for 18g of product; it comes with a small puff that I actually did not use as I applied it with a Kabuki brush. Goes on very smoothly, absorbs oil and fits my complexion perfectly. I put it over my Mac Matchmaster Foundation and the two together seem to be fighting my oiliness pretty well.
I definitely recommend it.
Note 1: I see that the Ginger shade seems to not be available on the Canadian site although it is available in the US site. It might be upcoming in Canada – Comment below if you want me to reach out to Avon for more!
Note 2: The comments on this product for MakeupAlley are really good. I’m not the only one in love with this!! :)
