I received the Arctic Goddess Winter 2012 Color Collection by Avon and was quite surprised by the cold blues and greens as we were submerged by other makeup collections that were mostly burgundies, oxblood, dark greens…simply put, it was refreshing to see a winter collection among the fall overdose I was getting. Don’t get me wrong, I actually prefer Fall but I just am in love with blue and turquoise so I was kinda sold on the color palette used by Avon from the get go.
The collection is composed of :
• True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Arctic Goddess
• GLIMMER STICKS DIAMONDS EYE LINER in Sugar Plum and Twilight
• Ultra Color Rich Brilliance Lip Gloss in Crystal Berry and Berry Glitz
• Ultra Color Rich Brilliance LipSTICK in Frost Berry and Icy Rose
• NAILWEAR PRO + NAIL ENAMEL in Arctic Waters, Chilling Teal, Green Goddess, and Romance
I will review each product on its own and am starting now with my favorite piece of the collection: the True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Arctic Goddess.
I have already reviewed a previous Avon eyeshadows here and I liked their formula in the past. This one does not disappoint either.
This palette has two light, icy, colors with a bit of shimmer and two matte very pigmented colors. The top left color is a powder blue, the right is a light turquoise. The bottom left is a bright blue and the right is a dark greyish green.
As I said the matte shadows are extremely pigmented whereas the shimmery colors are a bit more subtle and require a couple applications.
I love this palette and even though the colors are a bit “out there” I have been reaching out for it quite a lot. The shimmery colors are great for daily use and the mattes can be either used on the lower lash line or on the outer or inner corners of the eye to give a bit of personality to any daily/work/school look. During the weekend or for the evening the bright blue can be used all over the lid like you can see on my picture right here (picture that I cropped because I was doing a silly face for my friend Audrwey) or on this tutorial by Pixiwoo.
Little fallout, good staying powder (and with a primer it did not budge at all) and the application is pretty smooth. All in all I like the quality of this quad.
This line is in limited edition for Winter 2012. So if you like blue, get it! It’s worth the 9.99$ (and remember that Avon has sales all.the.time)
